| The animals spoke softly On that silent night, Pure joy found them their voices As they beheld the light. The little lamb said ”glory,'' And all the oxen praised. Cows whispered, “alleluia,” For they were all amazed. A miracle had happened, And they could not contain The joy they felt within their hearts; They sang their glad refrain. Along with all the angels, The animals did sing; For perfect love on earth was born, Our Lord, The Child , The King. He nestled in their manger, They sang their lullaby, And the voices of the angel’s chorus, Filled the still night sky; Welcoming the new born babe And praising God above, For He had sent His Son that night, To us , To bring His love. | No blanket of white To cover the ground, No pines brightly glowing With lights all around. No presents tied gaily With ribbon of red, Just a pillow of straw For the dear infant’s head. A Mother’s sweet song Broke the silence that night. A brilliant white star, Turned darkness to light. The birth in the manger, Pure love we recall; God’s most perfect Christmas Gift to us all. | What would you do if God asked for your trust, faith without question His plan not discussed? Would you ask Him, “Why me, Lord” and question His will? Would your heart be wide open or your lips remain still? Our Lord asked sweet Mary her faith to express, to love and to trust him, she softly said, “Yes”. Micheline Hull Dolan used with permission |
